A well-established construction contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Small Works Manager to oversee its commercial small works divisions across Aberdeen.
This is a senior operational position with responsibility for managing the successful delivery of a varied portfolio of commercial projects, while supporting the continued growth and development of the division.
The Role
Reporting into senior management, you will take overall responsibility for the operational delivery of multiple commercial projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, profitably and to the required standard.
The project portfolio is varied and includes works across areas such as:
- Commercial refurbishment and small works
- Roofing and refurbishment of older buildings
- Heritage-type properties
- Leisure facilities
- General commercial construction
- Planned and reactive works
The successful candidate will oversee operations across Aberdeen, working closely with project and site teams to ensure programmes, commercial performance, quality and client relationships are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the small works division.
- Manage multiple projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover.
- Provide leadership and direction to project and site teams.
- Monitor programme, costs, resources, quality and health & safety across projects.
- Ensure projects are delivered profitably and in line with agreed budgets.
- Support project teams with operational and commercial decision-making.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
- Identify operational improvements and opportunities to increase efficiency and profitability.
- Support the continued growth of the divisions and help develop the existing team structure.
- Ensure consistent standards are maintained across both locations.
About You
We are keen to speak with experienced Contracts Managers, Operations Managers, Small Works Managers or Senior Project Managers who have a strong background within commercial construction.
You will ideally have:
- Significant experience managing multiple commercial construction projects.
- A strong understanding of refurbishment, fit-out, maintenance or general commercial construction.
- Experience overseeing projects/divisions with a turnover of several million pounds.
- Strong leadership and people-management experience.
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of project profitability.
- The ability to manage multiple teams and projects across different locations.
