A forward-thinking engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their Edinburgh team. The role is ideal for a proficient, self-motivated engineer with strong technical knowledge, excellent time management, and a track record of consistent project delivery. The successful candidate works well independently, while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake mechanical design and consultancy work, including system design, production, specifications, schedules, and client reports.
  • Represent the consultancy in meetings with clients and external consultants, acting as a key point of contact.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring client requirements are met.
  • Support and train junior staff, reviewing workloads and prioritising tasks.
  • Check the accuracy and adequacy of documentation produced by others.
  • Apply and maintain quality system procedures and comply with ISO and relevant national legislation.
  • Manage projects, including trainee staff organisation, scheduling, and delivery to time and cost requirements.
  • Record man-hour commitments, monitor project budgets, and report project fee information regularly.
  • Comply with security procedures and confidentiality requirements.

Education & Experience

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (BEng Hons preferred).
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (IMechE / CIBSE).
  • Competent in AutoCAD, with knowledge of Revit.
  • Minimum engineering HNC/HND or equivalent qualification.

Skills & Competencies

  • Technically competent engineer with strong project management and financial control skills.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting and mentoring others.

Salary: Up to 60k
