In this role you will lead Peabody’s Fire Remediation Legal Compliance function to ensure the programme meets legal obligations and governance standards. You will oversee grant funding requirements, liaise with Homes England and internal/external stakeholders, and drive transparency and successful delivery within building safety legislation. You will shape risk, reporting, and data governance for the fire remediation programme and mentor a senior team. This is a leadership role with a clear impact on compliance and programme outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of eight across two direct-report managers, setting priorities and building capability
- Own delivery of Cladding Safety Scheme grant funding requirements, including applications, reporting, administration and assurance
- Serve as senior point of contact for Homes England on grant funding compliance and escalations
- Ensure compliance with contracts, legislation, leases, grant agreements and third-party arrangements
- Provide leadership on Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021 and related regulations
- Oversee monitoring and reporting of litigation affecting the programme and support contractual negotiations
- Lead oversight of Land Registry title structures, leases, and leaseholder protections
- Deliver executive, board and regulatory reporting and ensure timely compliance information
- Oversee programme data management including asset, liability and property records
- Act as senior escalation point for compliance risks and drive continuous governance improvements
Key requirements
- Significant leadership experience in a legal, compliance or governance role, including managing managers
- LLB in Law or relevant legal qualification
- Detailed knowledge of Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety Act 2021
- Experience managing government grant funding programmes (ideally Cladding Safety Scheme or Building Safety Fund)
- Expert knowledge of Land Registry titles, complex leases and leaseholder protections
- Experience managing complex programmes with planning, reporting and data management
- Experience in regulated environments with external scrutiny
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management with ability to influence executives, regulators and funders
- Strong judgement, leadership and risk governance abilities
