Are you an experienced construction professional who takes pride in getting things right first time? We’re looking for a proactive, detail‑driven Clerk of Works to join our Planned Major Projects team, someone who is confident on site, calm under pressure, and passionate about delivering safe, high‑quality homes for our residents.
In this role, you’ll be our eyes and ears on site, making sure contractors deliver exactly what’s been promised, to the right standard, in line with regulations and with our residents in mind.
What you’ll be doing
- Undertake regular site inspections across London and the Home Counties, reviewing progress, workmanship and compliance with CDM Regulations.
- Identify defects early and work with Project Managers and contractors to ensure issues are resolved quickly and properly.
- Maintain accurate site reports, photographic evidence, and clear documentation to support quality assurance.
- Liaise with contractors, consultants and internal teams – using diplomacy and sound judgement to challenge when needed.
- Be considerate of our residents and support Project Managers by providing timely site reports to help ensure a smooth customer experience.
- Feedback learning to improve design, procurement and future schemes – helping us continuously improve the way we work.
Who we’re looking for
- You’ll thrive in this role if you’re a technically competent, confident and collaborative construction professional with:
- Detailed knowledge of construction methods, drawings, specifications and building regulations.
- Strong experience inspecting works, spotting defects and advising on solutions.
- Excellent communication skills – able to explain technical issues clearly to non‑technical colleagues and contractors.
- Diplomacy, professionalism and the ability to remain calm, balanced and fair when challenges arise.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple sites, deadlines and records with accuracy.
- A commitment to resident‑centred working, safety and delivering quality every time.
A construction qualification (ICWCI, degree or similar) is desirable, but we’ll also consider individuals with equivalent experience built through hands‑on work.
