What you’ll be doing

We’re looking for an Area Manager who doesn’t just manage people, they inspire them. Someone who leads with kindness, acts with integrity, and knows how to bring a diverse team together to deliver exceptional housing services.

You’ll be responsible for around six schemes across London, supporting a team of up to 10 Scheme Managers. These schemes have a history of anti-social behaviour, and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate confidence in managing this, while empowering Scheme Managers to respond effectively and sensitively. Strong people management skills are essential, particularly in supporting staff through challenging situations and maintaining a values-led team culture. That’s why we need someone with resilience, empathy, and a strong understanding of tenancy management and housing operations.

You’ll be the kind of leader who:

  • Keeps promises – You do what you say you will, and your team trusts you for it.
  • Celebrates diversity – You value different perspectives and create a sense of belonging.
  • Loves new ideas – You’re curious, open to change, and always looking to improve.
  • Does the right thing – You act in the best interests of residents, even when it’s tough.
  • Pulls people together – You collaborate, especially when challenges arise.

This is a hands-on, operational role. You’ll be out visiting schemes, supporting your team, managing complaints, leading on health and safety, and empowering your staff to tackle issues like anti-social behaviour with confidence.

A car might help, but what matters most is your ability to lead with heart and purpose.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience managing dispersed teams in housing or a similar setting.
  • Strong knowledge of tenancy agreements, landlord responsibilities, and housing legislation.
  • A track record of handling complex people management issues.
  • Confidence in dealing with anti-social behaviour and community safety.
  • A values-led leadership style that builds trust and drives performance.

How to apply

If you’re ready to lead with empathy, drive change, and make a difference in the lives of older people, we’d love to hear your story.

Please apply by submitting an anonymised CV and a short statement explaining why you’re the perfect fit for this role.

  • The assessment process will include an in-person interview on 25 September at our Ealing office. Candidates successful at this stage will be invited to a follow-up interview via Microsoft Teams on 30 September.
  • Some hybrid working can be considered for this role. Three days at Schemes and two days at home.
  • As part of your application, we’ll ask you to answer a few questions to help us understand your suitability for the role, including one focused on our values so we can learn more about what matters to you and how you work.
  • An enhanced DBS is a requirement of this role.
