Are you passionate about improving how organisations manage and trust their data? As a Data Governance Manager at Peabody, you'll play a key role in embedding our Data Management Framework across the organisation, ensuring data is well governed, high quality and trusted for decision‑making.

Reporting to the Head of Data Architecture & Governance, you'll work across teams to strengthen data ownership, stewardship, quality and governance controls. This is a highly visible role where your expertise will directly support delivery of Peabody's Data Strategy and improve confidence in the data used across the business.

What you'll do

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Data Management Framework across priority business areas
  • Drive clear data ownership and stewardship, supporting Data Owners and Stewards to fulfil their responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain governance artefacts including data catalogues, glossaries, dictionaries and ownership records
  • Strengthen data quality governance, including scorecards, issue management and root cause analysis
  • Improve governance and assurance across critical resident, asset and regulatory datasets
  • Embed governance controls such as data classification, definitions and documentation across the organisation
  • Work closely with architecture, engineering and reporting teams to embed governance across the data lifecycle
  • Support delivery of Data Strategy priorities, improving data foundations and enabling trusted insight
  • Lead governance forums, preparing updates, tracking actions and escalating risks where needed
  • Line manage and develop the Data Governance Analyst, supporting performance and capability growth

What you'll need

  • Strong experience in data governance, data management or data quality in a complex organisation
  • Proven ability to embed governance frameworks into operational business practice
  • Experience leading or coordinating governance delivery across teams
  • Experience managing, coaching or mentoring colleagues
  • Strong understanding of governance concepts including ownership, stewardship, metadata and data quality
  • Experience managing governance artefacts such as catalogues, glossaries and issue logs
  • Good technical understanding of data platforms, reporting environments and integrations
  • Experience with governance tools such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, Atlan or similar
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and challenge constructively
  • Relevant degree or professional certifications (e.g. CDMP, DAMA, CISA) desirable
