PE Global is currently recruiting for a Design Technician for an initial 12 month contract role with a leading multinational Oil & Gas client based in Great Yarmouth. The Design Technician will be responsible for assisting in the design and production of drawings for mechanical systems for oilfield service equipment. This role will include coordination with other internal departments and external customers or consultants, for example fabrication contractors and certifying bodies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform drafting activities as required by the Engineering department.
- Design components for well servicing equipment based on previous examples and general engineering principles.
- Assist in the research and development of new products.
- Consult external vendors and internal experts as required.
- Prepare detailed schematic drawings and process flow drawings as required.
- Provide strong internal communication among departments to ensure equipment standardization, project coordination and product information.
- When required, participate in technical/sales meetings to ensure the feasibility of the project considering the overall design of the equipment.
- Provide estimates to the Engineering Manager on drawing completion and inform them of any concerns regarding project deadlines.
- Attend and contribute to weekly production and project meetings.
- Measure and sketch components in a shop or field environment.
- Monitor fabrication of equipment to ensure design intent is met and offer feedback on improving designs.
- Provide complete job summary reports to record possible improvements for the next job.
- Follow all applicable company and corporate policies, guiding principles, procedures and programmes; including but not limited to the process map, support processes, health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Maintain all company information as confidential.
- All other assigned or associated tasks and duties to help meet or exceed customer expectations and company goals.
Requirements:
- Minimum high school physics qualification required.
- Project management experience and use of PLM and ERP systems is considered an asset.
- Some experience with SolidWorks required. Additional experience with AutoCAD preferred.
- Experience in the design and operation of energy industry service equipment is desirable.
- Computer literate including good command of Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Driving license – based at 1 site, but production site is 3 miles away.
