PE Global is currently recruiting for a Quality Technician for a leading multi-national Pharma client based in Newport.
Position Overview
- Contract Length: 11 months (initial)
- Pay rate: £12.21 per hour to £17.08 per hour, depending on experience.
- Hours: rotating between 08:00‑16:00 and 09:00‑17:00.
- Visa: Candidates must have the correct UK work visa. Client cannot sponsor visas.
Responsibilities
- Support laboratory operations, specimen processing, and quality assurance within an ISO 17025 environment.
- Perform tasks related to the processing and analysis of test specimens.
- Safely lift and transfer laboratory samples and equipment (up to 15 kg) using correct techniques; manual handling training will be provided.
- Work regularly in cold environments (e.g., cold rooms, freezers, or chilled storage areas) and wear protective clothing as required.
- Log and scan samples into proprietary applications/databases, update task management systems, perform initial quality controls, and store samples appropriately.
- Process sample data received from clients and monitor data completeness, providing feedback to the Technical Account Executive.
- Receive and catalogue supplies, including reagents and chemicals, into the lab.
- Perform in‑house quality measurements and calibrate scientific equipment.
- Conduct cell lysis.
- Prepare reagents and maintain reagent/chemical stock levels.
Qualifications
- Degree in Life Sciences or a relevant field.
- Experience with lab work to ISO 17025 standard.
- Strong pipetting skills and experience.
- Comfortable working with chemicals in a lab setting.
- Effective communication skills to convey and receive information.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional organisational skills.
