PE Global is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our industrial engineering client (NOV) based in Middleton, Manchester, UK. The role is a permanent position and the salary for this role is £47,500 per annum. The role is hybrid with 3 days in office / 2 WFH. Hours: 7:30 - 16:00 Monday to Thursday, 7:30 - 12:30 Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical products and engineered systems from concept through to manufacture.
  • Produce and review 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Carry out engineering analysis including FEA and hand calculations to support design modifications and improvements.
  • Simplify and optimise existing designs to reduce cost and improve manufacturability and production efficiency.
  • Work closely with Production, Projects, and Procurement teams to ensure designs meet operational and customer requirements.
  • Ensure all engineering outputs comply with relevant internal standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in internal design reviews and assess commercial and technical implications of design decisions.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and adhere to Engineering Change Control procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve technical engineering queries in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry regulations including Machinery Safety Directive, PED, ATEX, and REACH standards.
  • Support customer-focused engineering solutions and uphold high quality standards across all deliverables.

Requirements:

  • HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification (essential).
  • Proven experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer role within an engineering or manufacturing environment (non-graduate level).
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software for mechanical design and drafting.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and engineering calculations.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacture, Assembly, and Maintenance (DFMA).
  • Knowledge of engineering materials and their applications in industrial design.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations (Machinery Safety Directive, PED, ATEX, REACH).
  • Competence in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
