Metallurgical Engineer

PE Global is recruiting a Materials Engineer for our industrial manufacturing client based in Peterborough. The role is an initial 12-month contract. The rate for this role is £26.27 PAYE or £35.50 Umbrella p/h.

Responsibilities of the role:

• You will provide materials engineering support to all UK facilities being involved in investigating a wide range of different materials in multiple applications.
• Resolving issues regarding the design or manufacturing. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
• Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
• Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective.
• Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability.

Requirements:

• Materials Science/Metallurgy degree and/or substantive practical working experience within a materials laboratory environment.
• Metallurgical / materials evaluation of new products, processes and or systems.
• Engaging communicator; Able to convey technical assessments and results to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Providing technical guidance on product and process maintenance.
• Ability to identify metallurgical / materials manufacturing defects and make process improvement recommendations.
• Experience of non-metallics testing.
• Deep experience of general metallurgy.
• Experience of fluids testing / chemistry knowledge.
• Experience of working in an ISO17025 accredited laboratory.
