PE Global is currently recruiting for a Prototype Test Technician for a leading multi-national manufacturing client based in Desford. This is an initial 12 month contract position working fully on site. Pay rate is £26.02ph PAYE or £35.63ph Umbrella. 5% travel required.
Duties of the role/Responsibilities:
- Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting prototype builds and executing testing to prove new design solutions on construction site machines.
- Testing shall include using electrical hand-held equipment and oscilloscopes; experience using the company’s service software is also desired.
- The successful candidate would need to maintain an electrical lab space, ensuring inventory is replenished and tools and equipment are maintained to stay fully certified and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Demonstrate experience in reading electrical schematics and wiring harness drawings.
- An appreciation of associated vehicle sub-systems such as hydraulics, engines and transmissions is also strongly desired.
Education/Experience:
- Automotive and off highway experience.
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in fault finding on cars, on road going cars OR working on off highway diggers is preferred.
- Candidates require significant experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems on mobile equipment.
- Knowledge on how to use all the tools in an electrical lab to repair electrical harnesses and hand build electrical harnesses.
- Demonstrate experience in reading electrical schematics and wiring harness drawings.
- An appreciation of associated vehicle sub-systems such as hydraulics, engines and transmissions is also strongly desired.
- Automotive experience of high speed (CAN, 2wire-Ethernet, 4-Wire Ethernet and GSML) data networks is required.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively and professionally with team members and others in the work group.
- Practical experience in 5th Generation cellular telematics, remote control vehicles and autonomy would be beneficial.
