PE Global is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Procurement Specialist to join our pharma client based in Cambridge.
The role is an initial 2-year contract, starting September 1st 2026, and the rate for this role is between £23.69ph and £40.31ph PAYE, depending on experience.
Candidates must be able to work on a hybrid basis, attending the Cambridge site approximately 2–3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead contract negotiations and manage commercial relationships with key global suppliers, ensuring favourable terms, pricing, delivery and quality requirements.
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for electronic components, sub-assemblies and contract manufacturing services.
- Lead cross-functional procurement and manufacturing optimisation projects, managing timelines, deliverables and cost-saving initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with global suppliers, monitoring supplier performance and driving continuous improvement.
- Support supplier selection, qualification and audits, assessing supplier capabilities, quality, cost, delivery and regulatory compliance.
- Establish and monitor supplier KPIs and SLAs, producing dashboards and reports for senior stakeholders and Quarterly Business Reviews.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including supplier, financial, geopolitical and market risks, while developing contingency and alternative sourcing strategies.
- Work closely with Procurement, Engineering, Quality, R&D, Manufacturing and other stakeholders to ensure supply assurance and successful project execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or a related technical/scientific discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in strategic sourcing, procurement or supplier management.
- At least 3 years’ experience within a regulated manufacturing environment such as Electronics/High-Tech, Medical Devices, Biotechnology or Pharmaceuticals.
- Strong experience in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation and commercial management.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional procurement projects and managing suppliers or contract manufacturing organisations.
- Experience with electronic components, PCBs, sensors, microchips or similar technical products is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), category management and global supply markets.
- Experience managing supplier KPIs, SLAs and performance reviews, with strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
- Proficiency with ERP and procurement systems such as SAP and SAP Ariba, with Power BI or advanced Excel experience highly desirable.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to present complex supply chain information to senior leadership.
- Experience managing international supplier networks and working across different cultures and time zones is desirable.
