PE Global is recruiting a Senior Civil Project Manager to lead, supervise, and coordinate all civil engineering aspects of substation projects. The role is an initial 6-month contract. The rate for this role is £250 p/day. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with advanced project management and civil engineering expertise to contribute to complex, multi-faceted projects, ensuring delivery to the highest quality, budget, and schedule standards. This role is mainly based remotely, with office presence needed only for team or project meetings approximately once per month.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage civil engineering scope and sub-suppliers, ensuring project integrity, completeness, and functionality.
- Take ownership of all substation civil design, calculations, and documentation.
- Provide technical recommendations during design, engineering, and execution phases, ensuring compliance with processes and standards while identifying improvement opportunities.
- Support contract managers with project claims, assessing cost, time, and risk impacts.
- Contribute civil technical details, costs, and deliverables for sales proposals and assist project managers in technical reviews with customers, partners, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Create and deliver civil scope-specific work plans, resource requirements, proposals, engineering estimates, and risk/opportunity analyses.
- Manage multiple, interrelated projects, integrating vendor tasks and monitoring deliverables, costs, and schedules.
- Mentor and review the work of junior professionals, sharing knowledge and best practices.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of civil engineering and project management principles, typically gained through extensive experience or advanced education.
- Proven experience managing large-scale substation or related civil projects.
- Strong understanding of international quality standards (e.g., ISO) and compliance requirements.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, able to tackle difficult and complex project challenges.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
