PE Global is currently recruiting for a Technical Scientist – Upstream on behalf of a leading global pharmaceutical client based at their site in Speke, near Liverpool.
Contract duration: 6-month rolling contract
Rates: £15.38 and £20.51 per hour, based on experience.
Duties of the role / Responsibilities
- Support the development of upstream processes, both fermentation and cell culture, for biopharma projects.
- Work collaboratively with lead scientists to execute and evaluate laboratory studies through hands‑on experimentation.
- Support successful commercialization of new products by partnering across functions.
- Perform essential daily tasks including equipment calibration, buffer and media preparation, sampling, and routine monitoring of cultures.
- Demonstrate GXP excellence during the execution and documentation of experiments.
- Support on technical transfers and scale up into Speke pilot plant for delivery of pivotal clinical trial materials.
- Execute material supply activities in accordance with GMP in the pilot plant when required.
Requirements
- Degree or higher degree in a scientific or engineering discipline or 5+ years of relevant industry experience in a laboratory or pilot plant environment.
- Proven experience in a hands‑on lab role, ideally within an upstream process team.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving lab-based issues or equipment downtime.
- Technical precision regarding equipment calibration and maintenance.
- Candidates must have the correct visa to live and work in the United Kingdom and are unable to receive visa sponsorship from the client.
