PE Global is currently recruiting for a Quality Technician for a leading multi-national Pharma client based in Newport. This is an initial 11 month contract position. Hours of work rotating between 08:00-16:00 and 09:00-17:00. Pay rate: from £12.21 to £17.08ph PAYE depending on experience. Working hours 37.5 hours per week.
Duties of the role/Responsibilities:
- Perform support tasks related to the processing and analysis of test specimens.
- Accurately complete assigned duties in a timely manner.
- Safely lift and transfer laboratory samples and equipment (up to 15 kg) using correct techniques. Manual handling training will be provided.
- This role involves regular work in cold environments (e.g., cold rooms, freezers, or chilled storage areas). You must be able to work comfortably in temperatures below typical indoor ranges, in accordance with relevant health & safety procedures, including wearing protective clothing as required.
- Log and scan samples into proprietary applications/databases, update task management systems, perform initial quality controls, and store samples appropriately.
- Process sample data received from clients and monitor data completeness, providing feedback to the Technical Account Executive.
- Receive and catalogue supplies, including reagents and chemicals, into the lab.
- Perform in-house quality measurements and calibration of scientific equipment.
- Conduct cell lysis.
- Prepare reagents and maintain reagent/chemical stock levels.
- Adherence to good lab practices, and participation in quality improvement projects.
- Complete documentation for accountability and traceability of products in an ISO17025 environment.
- Use light microscope.
Education/Experience:
- Degree in Life Science or relevant field.
- Lab work to ISO 17025 standard.
- Strong pipetting skills and experience.
- Experience and comfort level working with chemicals in a lab setting.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills to convey and receive information.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
