PE Global is recruiting a Machining Technician for our manufacturing client in Peterborough. The role is an initial 12-month contract & the rate for this role is £18.00 PAYE or £24.43 Umbrella p/h.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out a variety of machining tasks to support current and new Research & Development programmes
  • Operate conventional manual machinery including lathes, milling machines, grinding and boring machines
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and follow engineers’ instructions accurately
  • Produce precision components to tight deadlines and high quality standards
  • Use measuring equipment such as vernier callipers, depth gauges and thread gauges
  • Adhere to all company processes including Safety, Standard Work and Quality
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards within the work area
  • Work collaboratively with machining engineers, coordinators and wider team members

Requirements:

  • Proven machining background with strong fundamentals in machining processes
  • Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience using conventional machining equipment
  • Competent using PC systems, including Microsoft Office 365 and basic Excel
  • Self-motivated with strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptable and positive attitude to change

Desirable Experience:

  • Apprenticeship / City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Machining or equivalent
  • Experience using Mazak 5-axis (Mazatrol Smooth X control) and/or FeatureCAM
  • Experience using Haas ST-10 with Fanuc control
  • Background in military or aerospace environments (highly transferable skills)

Working Hours:

  • 37 hours per week
  • 07:00 – 15:30 Monday to Thursday
  • 07:00 – 12:00 Friday
  • Flexibility available within the team (to be agreed with the Hiring Manager)

Additional Information:

  • All PPE is provided
  • Role is 5 days per week onsite
  • One-stage interview process (face-to-face preferred; Teams possible if relocating)
  • Please note PE Global cannot provide visa sponsorship for applicants. Applicants will need the full right to live and work within the UK for at least the next 12 months.
