PE Global is currently recruiting for a Packaging Engineer on behalf of a leading global manufacturing organisation to join their team in Stockton.
Contract duration: 12 months Location: Stockton Rate: £33.72 per hour PAYE
As a Packaging Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and delivering robust, cost-effective and sustainable packaging solutions that support safety, quality and operational efficiency across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development and optimisation of packaging solutions for a wide range of products, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, delivery and cost targets.
- Provide detailed packaging guidance and specifications to suppliers.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers, logistics providers and cross-functional teams to define packaging requirements and ensure successful implementation.
- Follow procedures for approving all packaging for a specific product line.
- Drive solutions that minimise the risk of transportation damage.
- Evaluate packaging materials, automation technologies and machinery, and report results regularly.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on damage reduction and safety, using root cause analysis and risk-based decision making.
- Adhere to the packaging development process and assist in executing key packaging phases.
- Support supplier visits and travel to the company's Desford facility for occasional training purposes.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Significant experience within an industrial packaging / material handling equipment context.
- Self-starter who is able to work with little to no supervision.
- Ability to utilise 3D CAD software to perform design reviews.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, challenge and collaborate effectively across all levels.
- Strong project management experience, with demonstrable examples of project leadership.
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
- Ability to balance cost, performance and sustainability considerations when developing solutions.
- Familiarity with global supply chains.
