PE Global is recruiting a Machining Technician for our manufacturing client in Peterborough. The role is an initial 12-month contract & the rate for this role is £18.00 PAYE or £24.43 Umbrella p/h.
Responsibilities
- Carry out a variety of machining tasks to support current and new Research & Development programmes
- Operate conventional manual machinery including lathes, milling machines, grinding and boring machines
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and follow engineers' instructions accurately
- Produce precision components to tight deadlines and high quality standards
- Use measuring equipment such as vernier callipers, depth gauges and thread gauges
- Adhere to all company processes including Safety, Standard Work and Quality
- Maintain good housekeeping standards within the work area
- Work collaboratively with machining engineers, coordinators and wider team members
Requirements
- Proven machining background with strong fundamentals in machining processes
- Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience using conventional machining equipment
- Competent using PC systems, including Microsoft Office 365 and basic Excel
- Self-motivated with strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptable and positive attitude to change
Desirable Experience
- Apprenticeship / City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Machining or equivalent
- Experience using Mazak 5-axis (Mazatrol Smooth X control) and/or FeatureCAM
- Experience using Haas ST-10 with Fanuc control
- Background in military or aerospace environments (highly transferable skills)
Working Hours
- 37 hours per week
- 07:00 - 15:30 Monday to Thursday
- 07:00 - 12:00 Friday
- Flexibility available within the team (to be agreed with the Hiring Manager)
Additional Information
- All PPE is provided
- Role is 5 days per week onsite
- One-stage interview process (face-to-face preferred; Teams possible if relocating)
