PE Global is currently recruiting for an Analytical Development Scientist for a leading multi‑national Pharma client based in Speke, Liverpool. This is an initial 12‑month contract position working fully on site. The pay rate is between £15.38 and £20.51 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership for delivery of the analytical agenda within process development projects based in the development laboratories and pilot plant areas at Speke or for projects across the global network, including HPLC, ELISA, UV, CE‑SDS techniques.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate laboratory studies through hands‑on experimentation, making sound technical judgements through data interpretation, knowledge, and experience for project direction and delivery.
  • Provide regular communications for project progress to senior technical staff and key stakeholders globally, delivering high‑quality peer‑reviewed technical reports and working collaboratively with other team members.
  • Ensure and drive compliance in all safety and quality aspects for process development activities, and be accountable for spend/cost control.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities through innovation and shared technical knowledge across the global network.
  • Develop links and collaborations with external organisations for analytical development and carry out tech transfers according to project and business requirements.

Qualifications

  • Degree or higher degree within chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology/biologics or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of hands‑on knowledge and expertise in analytical method development or other relevant experience, such as a PhD, is preferable.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of protein chemistry.
  • Expertise in development of new analytical methods and optimisation specifically HPLC, UV, ELISA & CE‑SDS.
  • Ability to operate according to Good Research Practices and produce technical documentation to high standards.
  • Good understanding of potential CQAs, process and product related impurities and stability needs.
  • Ability to lead, plan and execute method validations or fit‑for‑purpose studies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and across sites with other team members.
  • Deep scientific curiosity, research mind‑set, and ability to resolve issues for early to late phase development.
  • Strong learning agility with a demonstrated ability to expand into new areas in response to business needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build strong working relationships at all levels in the organisation.
  • Experience/ability to interpret structural analytical data, e.g., mass spectrometry knowledge or cell‑based assay data, would be preferable.
