PE Global is currently recruiting for an Assistant Buyer for a leading multi-national construction, mining and other engineering equipment manufacturer client based in Desford. This is an initial 12 month contract position based on site 5 days a week. Pay rate is £22.04ph PAYE or £30.18ph Umbrella.
Duties of the role/Responsibilities:
- Solicit supplier quotations, analyse cost breakdowns, update pricing records, and manage supplier communications.
- Ensure adherence to internal procurement procedures and industry best practices.
- Lead and support resource projects, resolve procurement challenges, and address invoice-related discrepancies.
- Coordinate supplier onboarding processes and foster strong, ongoing vendor relationships.
- Work in close partnership with the Site Buyer and contribute to the wider Specialty Products and Site procurement teams.
- Oversee the end-to-end procurement cycle: negotiating supplier contracts, evaluating bids, issuing purchase orders, monitoring deliveries, and managing inventory levels.
- Maintain up-to-date procurement documentation and uphold compliance standards.
Education/Experience:
- At least 3 years experience as Assistant Buyer.
- Purchasing specific qualifications desirable CIPS.
- System experience ideally: Microsoft office, ERP system experience (SAP) & Teamcenter.
- Procurement Expertise: Deep understanding of procurement methods, systems, and tools.
- Systems Knowledge: Familiar with a range of procurement platforms and able to adapt to new systems quickly.
- Purchasing Processes: Understanding of procurement regulations, workflows, and documentation standards.
- Logistics Coordination: Awareness of supply chain logistics and inventory management best practices.
