- PDSL is looking for an
- Embedded Software Engineer to join our engineering team at the
PDSL Knowledge Centre, Warwick Science Park, Coventry .
This role is ideal for a graduate or early-career engineer looking to build hands‑on experience in embedded software development, firmware, microcontrollers and hardware/software integration.
You will support the development, testing, debugging and validation of embedded systems using
C/C++ , working across both bare‑metal and RTOS‑based applications .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain embedded software using
C and C++ .
- Support firmware development for microcontroller‑based systems.
- Develop and debug bare‑metal and RTOS applications .
- Implement and troubleshoot
I2C, SPI, UART and CAN communication.
- Support hardware/software integration, testing and fault investigation.
- Read electronic schematics, specifications and component datasheets.
- Use debugging tools such as
GDB, JTAG and SWD .
- Use logic analysers and oscilloscopes to diagnose integration issues.
- Produce clear technical documentation and work collaboratively with wider engineering teams.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for candidates with
- Good knowledge of
Embedded C and C++ .
- Experience with at least one microcontroller platform such as
STM32, NXP, Microchip, AVR or ESP32 .
- Understanding of
RTOS and bare‑metal development .
- Knowledge of
I2C, SPI, UART and CAN .
- Ability to read electronic schematics and datasheets.
- Familiarity with embedded debugging and laboratory test equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Education & Experience
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in
Electronic Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
This role is particularly suitable for candidates with
0–3 years of experience .

- The successful candidate will be based at the
PDSL Knowledge Centre, Warwick Science Park, Coventry, UK and must be able to work from this location as required.
