PDQ Kerb Laying & Groundworks is an expanding South Coast groundworks business providing fully managed groundworks delivery gangs to civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, roads & sewers and residential development projects. Based in Southampton, we operate throughout Hampshire, Sussex and Surrey and are looking to appoint an experienced Groundworks Operations & Business Development Manager to support the next stage of our growth. This is not a desk-based role. We are looking for an individual with strong operational experience, industry credibility and an established network of contacts who can help grow our client base whilst ensuring our gangs continue to deliver safely and efficiently.

The Role

  • Manage and coordinate groundworks delivery gangs across multiple projects
  • Liaise with clients, Contracts Managers and Site Teams
  • Resource planning and labour allocation
  • Recruitment and onboarding of operatives
  • Site visits and quality monitoring
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements
  • Develop relationships with new and existing clients
  • Identify opportunities for additional work and framework opportunities
  • Support business growth and expansion plans

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' experience within groundworks, civil engineering or utilities
  • Previous experience as a Contracts Manager, Operations Manager, Site Manager or General Foreman
  • Strong knowledge of drainage, deep drainage, roads & sewers, utilities and infrastructure projects
  • Proven ability to manage multiple gangs and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Highly Desirable

  • Existing relationships with regional contractors, developers and infrastructure companies
  • Experience winning work through industry contacts
  • SMSTS
  • Experience with Constructionline, CHAS and SSIP compliance
