Responsibilities
The Purchasing Assistant is a key role to help streamline and improve the purchasing function. This role will require a strong personality to speak with and negotiate with the supply chain.
Day to Day functions will include:
- To help make sure purchase orders are up to date against confirmed delivery dates from supplier confirmations
- Proactively chase 'open' orders
- To support in pulling in orders when required to improvements in the production chain
- To support in pushing out orders when required to slippages in the production chain
- Placing orders where shortages advised
- Full support of materials controller / purchasing manager when unavailable
- Reconcile incoming invoices from suppliers to ensure these are processed through the system for timely information to the accounts team
- To support when applicable / appropriate in contingency plans, problem solving and areas for improvement in the processes
- To work with the warehouse and quality teams to resolve any supplier non-conformances or issues
