Working Pattern: Permanent / Full Time / Part Time

As the Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will:

  • Work as part of an Engineering team, representing the company in client meetings, producing reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications, and monitoring project delivery in the office and on-site works.
  • Demonstrate a safe approach in design and consulting practices, following the objectives of the Group or project specific Health, Safety and Environmental Plans.
  • Lead by example and ensure unsafe activities are challenged.
  • Direct and supervise Engineers, Senior Engineers, Designers and Graduates within projects.
  • Be a great communicator with the client and other team members.
  • Represent SEL with Clients, Suppliers / Vendors etc. in a professional manner.
  • Lead building services design teams in the design of Energy from Waste, Anaerobic Digestion or District Heating sectors.
  • Oversee responsibility for the delivery of all design requirements including; building services schematic drawings, layout drawings, and supporting calculations.
  • Undertake other tasks as delegated by Heads.
  • Develop project plans and schedules for large to medium sized projects.
  • Immediately identify to Principal Engineer or Head, any issue that has the potential to cause change or growth to any area of the project or study, in comparison to the original design intent / deliverables required.
  • Assist with training and development of Graduates, Engineers, senior engineers, and designers.
  • Produce cost-effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value to both SEL and the client.
  • Project manage and monitor progress of work and achieving completion within the agreed schedule and budget.
  • Report progress as per business systems and procedures.
  • Produce and check documents and engineering design deliverables.
  • Remain up to date with technical developments, client, national and international standards, and legislative requirements including Industry Codes and Standards, HSE Alerts.
  • Demonstrate and promote PD&MS Group and RSK Group values and lead by example.

About You

You’ll have experience of:

  • Working within an engineering team within the clean technology and low carbon sectors, such as Energy from Waste, Anaerobic Digestion or District Heating.
  • Knowledge of, and compliance with, client, industry and international specifications and standards.
  • Undertaking the design process to RIBA 0-4 for building services projects, ideally within the sectors listed above.
  • Working collaboratively with others to form strong positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
  • Commercial experience and alertness to new business development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant Engineering / Science Discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status preferred.
  • Significant, demonstrable experience in FEED, Detailed Design Engineering and Engineering Checking.
  • Detailed understanding of all Engineering disciplines.
  • Competent in the use of MS Office applications.
