The Instrumentation & Electrical technician shall provide all labour, supervision, materials, tools, equipment, testing devices, and services required to execute the complete Instrumentation and Electrical works in accordance with the contract documents, applicable standards, and statutory regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist Construction Manager with allocation of resources
- Checking of workpacks of engineered items and services
- Direction and supervision of Construction Engineers
- Review of scope of work upon receipt from client in order to understand and provide details to project team on specific construction requirements potentially associated with scope
- Early engagement with engineering disciplines upon receipt of scope of work to ensure alignment with engineering proposal during estimating stage
- Completion of onshore and offshore construction estimates against scopes of work
- Carry out offshore surveys where necessary to understand construction constraints
- Input to and challenge engineering solution at early stage to ensure constructability is incorporated within the design
- Determine and request resource levels and allocation
- Form close working relationship with Work Pack Engineers and construction co-ordinators
- Undertake offshore inductions with new contractors
- Represent construction discipline at project progress and planning meetings
- Input to all planning/progress reports to accurately demonstrate how onshore construction are performing against budget and schedule
- Delivering onshore construction deliverables in line with the project schedule
- Co-ordination/attendance at project constructability meetings
- Review of material requirements against engineering design
- Involvement in material management process to ensure correct materials are delivered and available offshore when required in conjunction with offshore plans
- Accountable for ensuring review and approval of construction work packs has been completed, to ensure all constructability aspects have been captured
- Identification of all plant and equipment associated with the offshore phase of the project
- Ensure OCS engagement with and management of all vendors traveling offshore during construction phase of work
- Provide technical support to offshore team prior to and during offshore phase of work
- Ensure work packs are back loaded by the OCS and moved into close out team as soon as possible post construction and ensuring all punch list items are defined with completion
- Managing and coordinating offshore construction supervisors, and if offshore running a scope the Foreman, trade persons and specialist vendor personnel
- Making offshore management visits as required by the construction manager/ Client
- Promotion of the Company at every opportunity
- Liaise / interface with Clients, Sub-contractors, Vendors and Certifying Authorities on construction project related issues as necessary
- When managing an offshore construction scope, responsible for convening safety reviews, tool box talks and ensuring full compliance with the prevailing Permits to Work system
- Responsible for ensuring professional development is maintained and identified competency requirements are undertaken in a timely manner
- Adherence to the company integrated management system
- Compliance with quality assurance, health and safety and environmental policies
- Demonstrate and promote PD&MS QHSE principles and lead by example
- Demonstrate and promote PD&MS values and lead by example
- Ensure unsafe activities are challenged
- Adherence to the requirements of the best practice standards recommendations and processes in the undertaking of duties, in particular, risk assessment and control, reliability and failure prevention necessary to ensure the safe design, provision and use of tools, equipment and systems
- Ensure direct report performance reviews are carried out within the required timescales
