Responsibilities
- Responsible for the assurance of technical integrity of engineering delivered within designated contracts in full compliance with PD&MS Group procedures
- Continual monitoring of Engineering delivery performance in line with project, corporate and client requirements
- Responsible for aligning delivery and behaviours across all technical disciplines within designated contracts to ensure optimal results are delivered to clients
- Oversee delivery of cost‑effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value to both PD&MS and the Client. Motivation of all discipline personnel to do similarly
- Responsible for working closely with the contract Construction Manager to ensure an optimised engineering design for construction is achieved through facilitation of constructability reviews at strategic points during design development
- Review of engineering delivery against pre‑determined internal KPI’s
- Review of engineering delivery against client specific KPI’s
- Monitoring of engineering productivity and implementing remedial measures where applicable
- Manage interface between engineering disciplines and other functions within projects where necessary e.g. PRP’s, Project Services
- Ensuring correct work sequencing and workflow are in place across disciplines/ project phases (e.g. procurement, construction) to prevent re‑work, or conversely the ability of dependent disciplines to make optimal progress. Intervening to resolve potential conflict if such situations arise
- Responsible for the continuous improvement of engineering and construction processes and procedures
- Resource analysis utilizing ProTools and discipline work scope forecasting
- Engagement with engineering department heads to ensure correct allocation of resources in line with project requirements, including weekly FTE meeting attendance and contract overview
- Regular review of NCR’s and SIR’s being raised within projects and managing resolution through to completion.
- Maintain constant dialogue with Job Responsible Engineers to ensure project requirements are being serviced as required and provide regular progress updates to the Contract Manager
- Regular contact with clients engineering and technical functional leadership team to maintain positive relationships within the contract
- Preparation / approval of estimates and tender packages including PEER review of discipline generated CTRs
- Representation of PD&MS with Clients, Suppliers / Vendors and Certifying Authorities in a professional manner
- Convening regular engineering meetings to ensure alignment with contract requirements
- Review and monitoring of competence of engineering personnel across the company. In conjunction with HoD’s, management of shortfalls such as training, coaching, mentoring or other measures.
- Proficient in the use of all ProTools
- Remain up to date with technical developments, client, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the position
- Awareness and understanding of the business drivers and values
- Actively promote services of company whenever possible and source work if possible to do so
- Review personnel performance, competency and work ethic and action accordingly
- Review, or appropriate delegation of timesheets, holiday requests and working time
- Responsible for ensuring professional development is maintained and identified competency requirements are undertaken in a timely manner
- Adherence to the company integrated management system
- Compliance with quality assurance, health and safety and environmental policies
- Demonstrate and promote PD&MS QHSE principles and lead by example
- Ensure unsafe activities are challenged
- Adherence to the requirements of the best practice standards recommendations and processes in the undertaking of duties, in particular, risk assessment and control, reliability and failure prevention necessary to ensure the safe design, provision and use of tools, equipment and systems
- Demonstrate and promote PD&MS values and lead by example
- Ensure direct report performance reviews are carried out within the required timescales (where applicable)
About You
Qualification
- BSc in relevant Engineering Discipline
- Chartered Engineering Status
Experience / competence
- Significant, demonstrable experience in Detailed Design Engineering and Engineering Checking/Approval
- Understanding of all Engineering disciplines
- Experience with commercial, contractual, and administrative aspects of projects and engineering activities
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant Oil & Gas Industry Codes and Standards
- Significant, demonstrable experience managing multiple technical disciplines
- Competent in the use of MS Office applications
- Experience in managing and developing others
- Excellent written and spoken English
