Time served plater required to support ongoing projects at INEOS KPS Kinneil Grangemouth. Candidates must have prior experience of working within a live plant environment. Valid CCNSG required.
Role summary: The Plater Chargehand is required to deliver a high quality, consistent and competent Plating Chargehand construction service including preparation, fabrication and erection of structural steelwork in accordance with Project / Company requirements, standards and procedures. To support overall delivery of company goals and schedule and to ensure that the entire work scope is completed in a safe manner ensuring no detrimental impact to personnel, fabric or environment.
Responsibilities:
- Instruct plater personnel in the performance of their work.
- Responsible for the quality and quantity of work undertaken by plater personnel.
- Deliver a high quality, consistent and competent plating construction service in accordance with project / company requirements, standards and procedures.
- Read, understand and implement all applicable company / project policies, working practices and procedures, ensuring at all times that the scope is completed in accordance with company procedures, and to the highest standard of safety.
- Complete all work scope in accordance with applicable workpack / job card instructions, associated procedures and drawings / sketches.
- Mark out and develop profiles on plate, structural steelwork and pipework.
- Produce templates for marking and / or drilling.
- Produce angled fabrications using bending or folding machinery.
- Form rolled steel sections using section rolling machinery.
- Set out plate work for structural steelwork fabrication.
- Produce and install structural steelwork fabrications, plate work assemblies of square, rectangular, cylindrical or conical form, heavy steelwork beams or sections, and structural lattice girders.
- Use manual metal arc welding to weld fabrications or structural steelwork.
- Use straight line and profile cutting machines.
- Carry out Stand-by and fire watch duties.
- Adhere to all safety requirements including safety checks of tools and equipment.
- Use Oxy / fuel hand burning / heating / cutting equipment and all relevant workshops / site equipment associated with job requirements.
- Responsible for tacking up, preheating (if required) and welding out full joint.
- For complex fits up to ensure assistance is available.
- Shall carry / pull his own welding and cutting leads, electrodes and tools to the work place.
- Shall be solely responsible for their welding construction equipment and tools at all times.
- Required to keep work area clean and clear at all times, between changing work sites at the end of shifts.
- Provide support to other trades/disciplines where required, or form part of an integrated multi-discipline team.
- Undertake appropriate Risk Assessments (RA) in order to complete work scope in a safe and controlled manner.
- Attend meetings as and when required.
- Attend and participate positively in toolbox talks.
- Attend and participate positively in training sessions and safety sessions.
- Provide timely feedback to supervisor of ongoing status or completion of the task.
- Responsible for ensuring professional development is maintained and identified competency requirements are undertaken in a timely manner.
- Adherence to the company integrated management system.
- Compliance with quality assurance, health and safety and environmental policies.
- Demonstrate and promote PD&MS QHSE principles and lead by example.
- Ensure unsafe activities are challenged.
- Adherence to the requirements of the best practice standards recommendations and processes in the undertaking of duties, in particular, risk assessment and control, reliability and failure prevention necessary to ensure the safe design, provision and use of tools, equipment and systems.
About You
Qualifications:
- Time Served / Modern Apprenticeship approved by City & Guilds or NVQ/SVQ Level 3, and / or relevant and recognised technical qualification approved by an appropriate awarding body.
- Abrasive Wheels Awareness Training.
- Relevant Welders Coding Certificate (Weld Procedure Specific) (Preferred).
- CCNSG Safety Passport.
Experience / competence:
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Valid Driving License (Preferred).
- Understanding of relevant Construction Industry Codes and Standards relevant to role.
- Demonstrable experience in conducting Audits and Investigations including Permit to Work.
- Exposure to People Management.
- Reasonable written and spoken English.
