Working Pattern: Permanent / Full Time

As the Principal Engineer, you will:

  • Have strong experience in Conceptual Study/FEED design, Detailed Design, Knowledge and Understanding of construction, Plant commissioning, operations and plant maintenance would be preferred.
  • Have strong experience performing Lay-out studies (Brownfield and Greenfield), Materials selection, Valve and Piping component specification, technical bid evaluations for Valves and Piping Long Lead items in an EPC environment or client role is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Piping corrosion and erosion, Material standards, Material Mechanical testing and NDE and material.
  • Strong knowledge of valve and piping components and relevant codes and standards (for manufacture and testing) is essential and to be demonstrable.
  • Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development.
  • Piping subject master and are expected to be able to perform the role of technical authority when delegated and experience in interacting with Client's TA when required.
  • Strong knowledge of Piping discipline codes and standards (ISO, API, ASME, BSI, NACE etc). Knowledge of pipeline design codes (BSI PD8010) and wellhead (API 6A) would be preferable.
  • Knowledge, understanding of UK statutory requirements such as pressure equipment regulation (PER), PED as Safety case regulations would be essential for the role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Dimensional Control Survey /Cloud scan Survey techniques.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Piping stress/flexibility analysis basis. Managing interfaces with Pipe stress team for stress critical line. Be able to interpret pipe Stress deliverables to produce a cost effective and safe lay-out /arrangement.
  • Liaise closely with other disciplines to ensure all piping (Supplier and all other disciplines i.e. Process, instrument, Mechanical as well as safety) requirements are addressed in the design, lay-out, fabrication, construction and commissioning.
  • Provide value adding knowledge to constructability reviews and take consideration of layout restrictions, ergonomics, safety, utilities, and maintainability.

About You

You’ll have experience of:

  • Knowledge of Specific piping drawings requirements/presentation, Knowledge and understanding of 3D and 2D CAD Software.
  • Coordinating work tasks to the team (designers/Engineers) to achieve required plan dates.
  • Estimating and CTR development, Client facing experience (Would be advantageous) and having negotiation and conflict resolution experience (technical deviation/queries).
  • Managing budgets, produce scope of work and setting project objectives, be able to report progress and monitor piping team productivity when delegated by Lead engineers.
  • Planning, Progress reporting and maintaining the project plan, recognising changes from Client SoR/Project Scope of work (Change management) and highlighting impacts on cost/Schedule and plan.
  • Producing, checking, and approving piping deliverables (Piping Fabrication isometrics, Piping support details) that conform to all applicable industry engineering codes and standards as well as the client’s policies and procedures.
  • Conducting presentation for Piping design review, Competent in using 3D model review tools such as Navisworks.
  • Producing, checking, and approving valve data sheets, Experience producing, checking, and approving data sheet for Piping Specialty Items (Flexible Hose, Strainers, filters etc).
  • Liaising with Suppliers, Manufacturers for procurement of piping items/components.
  • Liaising with Piping fabricators, Understanding of Piping welding, coating, examination and testing requirements.

Qualifications

  • BSc or equivalent in relevant Engineering Discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status preferred
  • Significant, demonstrable experience in Detailed Design Engineering and Engineering Checking
  • Detailed understanding of all Engineering disciplines
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant Oil & Gas Industry Codes and Standards
  • Understand the application of Autodesk Design products
  • Competent in the use of MS Office applications
  • Survival BOSIET/FOET with CA-EBS & MIST (advantageous)
