Discipline Engineer

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Discipline Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen. The role will provide engineering support and delivery within the multidisciplinary discipline engineering team with a primary focus on subsea installation and dynamic analysis using OrcaFlex.

Reports to:

Manager - Pipeline & Structures

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical knowledge and engineering support within the company, working collaboratively with engineers from different disciplines and at different stages of projects
• Undertake subsea installation and dynamic analysis using OrcaFlex as a primary responsibility of the role
• Develop, run, troubleshoot, validate and interpret static and dynamic OrcaFlex models for subsea systems
• Model systems which may include rigid pipelines, flexible pipelines and risers, umbilicals, subsea structures, installation equipment, vessels and mooring systems
• Perform analyses incorporating relevant environmental and operational conditions, including waves, currents, vessel motions and other applicable environmental loadings
• Prepare clear and technically robust analysis reports, calculations, engineering notes and other technical deliverables, documenting modelling methodology, assumptions, inputs, results and conclusions
• Perform checking and review of OrcaFlex models and analysis deliverables produced by other engineers, where appropriate to the individual's level of experience
• Work collaboratively with the pipeline and structural engineering disciplines, providing analysis input where required and supporting multidisciplinary engineering solutions
• Awareness of work plans, engineering-hour estimates and budget for engineering activities in the team for each tender/project
• Contribute to pipeline design and structural engineering activities where appropriate to project requirements, workload and the individual's experience and development objectives
• Liaise with Project Engineering Leads/Project Engineers to assist them in the development of installation procedures and methodology during different stages of the projects
• Prepare and present analysis findings, engineering recommendations and technical conclusions to Clients and Project Teams
• Provide input to work plans, CTRs, engineering-hour estimates and engineering budgets for tender and project activities
• Provide technical guidance and support to Graduate and less experienced Engineers
• Offshore/site work as required by Projects
• Adherence to the PDi Integrated Management System
• Compliance with PDi HSEQ policies and procedures

Required Skills & Experience

• Familiarity of relevant legislation, codes, and standards
• Strong practical competence in OrcaFlex, with hands‑on experience developing and analysing models for subsea engineering applications
• Good understanding of the engineering principles associated with subsea installation and dynamic response
• Previous experience in a similar subsea, offshore or analysis‑focused engineering role
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering environment and interface with pipeline, structural, project and installation engineers

Qualifications:

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture or another relevant engineering discipline
• Charted or approaching Charted Engineer is desirable
