Maintenance Electrician (Mobile) – Retail, Offices & Student Accommodation
Location: Covering multi-site across North East England – ideal candidate in Newcastle.
Base Salary: Up to £42,000.00 + Call out + overtime.
Overtime Monday to Saturday AM – Paid at 1.5× hourly rate, Saturday PM/Sunday – Paid at 2× hourly rate. Potential for 5‑20 hours per month of overtime, although not guaranteed.
Benefits: Company van with fuel card (work use only), company pension scheme, 33 days holiday (including bank holidays).
Hours: 40 hours a week – Monday to Friday.
Job Purpose
This key position carries out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across a number of sites in the area. The role focuses on technical repairs and minor PPMs, ensuring all technical and compliance paperwork is always completed and up to date, and that all work is completed to the highest standards efficiently and cost‑effectively, whilst complying with the laid‑down company health and safety policy.
Key Accountabilities
- Complete the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule within agreed timescales and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed.
- Conduct emergency lighting tests and repairs.
- Carry out fault finding and electrical maintenance works.
- Identify non‑repairable faults in plant and machinery and promptly advise the line manager.
- Advise the on‑site customer (manager) of any repair and maintenance issues that may affect the smooth running of the site.
- Carry out surveys and complete reports as required.
- Always comply with company health and safety policy.
- Participate in a 24/7 call‑out rota (1 week in every 8/10).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- City and Guilds 236 Part 1 + 2 or NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- AM2 or approved electrician status.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671: 2018).
- 2391 certification would be beneficial.
- 3‑phase electrics and its applications.
- Achievement of PPM schedule within agreed timescales.
- Respond to service call requests within agreed timescales.
- Full and valid driving licence and full use of own motor vehicle.
