With headquarters based in the Northeast of England, PD Ports owns and operates the UK’s sixth largest port by volume. Operating out of 11 key ports and logistics centres across the UK, we are committed to retaining and developing talent nationwide. A vacancy has arisen for a full time Stores Keeper at PD Ports within the Engineering Department. Reporting to the Procurement Category Manager, the main purpose of the role is to manage and oversee the stores department functions, assisting in the department’s day to day operations.

Location: Tees Dock, Middlesbrough, TS6 6UD

Working Arrangements: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The five main things our Stores Keeper will be working on are:

  • Responsible for managing the department's inventory, monitoring stock levels and ensuring accurate records are kept alongside quality control checks on incoming goods or materials.
  • Dealing with suppliers to expedite material orders, equipment and parts for the operational and engineering teams.
  • Collaborating with various internal departments to ensure smooth flow of resources, liaising with external parties to coordinate deliveries and maintaining good working relationships. Effective communication skills are essential to facilitate these interactions.
  • Adhering to Health & Safety regulations in the storage and handling of inventory, following safety procedures handling/storing hazardous materials. Conducting regular safety inspections and reporting any safety concerns.
  • Responsible for operating the department's plant or vehicles to assist the department in day-to-day operations when required.

We are seeking someone who:

  • Possesses excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Has great attention to detail whilst dealing with numerous items, quantities and records to ensure inventory accuracy when dealing with large quantities or expensive parts.
  • Is proficient in using inventory management software, spreadsheets and comfortable with using computerised systems for tracking inventory, generating reports and analysing data. Inventory Management experience would be beneficial.
