A vacancy has arisen for a full time Fabrication and Welding Team Leader at PD Ports within the Engineering department.
Location: Tees Dock, Middlesbrough, TS6 6UD
Working Arrangements: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
The Fabrication and Welding Team Leader is responsible for leading a team of skilled technicians to deliver high-quality fabrication and welding services across PD Ports infrastructure. The role ensures that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with OEM standards, industry regulations and company policies. The Team Leader will also support departmental objectives, contribute to continuous improvement, and act as a key liaison between the Engineering team and management.
The five main things our Fabrication and Welding Team Leaderwill be working on are:
- Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with RAMS and the Company Health & Safety Policy and actively participate in the preparation and review of Risk Assessments.
- Plan and coordinate daily tasks, balancing reactive and planned maintenance priorities whilst supervising fabrication, repair, and installation of steelwork across sites.
- Supporting management with administrative and operational duties as required and providing technical guidance and support to team members.
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship, ensuring compliance with OEM and industry standards and to monitor and report on work progress, ensuring the timely completion of tasks.
- Ensuring accurate completion of work orders and the escalation of issues to the Superintendent to collaborate effectively with internal teams, including the Technical Design department.
We are seeking someone who:
- Holds a HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Fabrication & Welding Engineering and has a minimum of 2 years leadership experience.
- Previous experience with BS1090 Structural Steel and UKCA Marking (previously under EU legislation as CE Marking) and 3G/4G MMA coded welding experience as a minimum.
- Has proven experience with welding procedures and associated testing (internal and external) with a strong technical knowledge of plant and machinery.
- Possesses effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage workload and supervise others.
- Demonstrates high attention to detail, strong analytical skills and is proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
