Operating out of 11 key ports and logistics centres across the UK, we are committed to retaining and developing talent nationwide. A vacancy has arisen for a full time Advanced Mechanical Tradesperson at PD Ports within the Engineering Department.

Working Arrangements: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The main things our Advanced Mechanical Tradesperson will be working on are:

  • Ensuring all duties are completed in line with RAMS and Company Health & Safety policy, whilst being active in the compilation or reviewing of Risk Assessments and participate in assigned long-term preventative maintenance programs and projects.
  • Handling repairs and servicing of Mobile plant (Shovels/Forklifts/Shunters) and cranes (Mobile harbour/Sennebogen) whilst working on associated Ancillary equipment i.e. grabs, trailers.
  • Liaising with the Team Leader to prioritise reactive and planned maintenance activities, ensuring service and repair standards are consistently maintained.
  • Ensuring all service, repair, and service sheet activities are completed within required timescales, proactively communicating any issues, and taking full ownership to ensure tasks are closed out on time and in full.

We are seeking someone who:

  • Possesses good technical knowledge of plant, machinery and services in required trade.
  • Holds a recognised trade specific apprenticeship with a minimum of 3 years’ experience post apprenticeship.
  • Experience in the port environment is desired but not essential.
  • Possesses exceptional attention to detail and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage their workload and supervise others when required.
  • Can demonstrate analytical skills to interrogate, analyse and evaluate previous/current repair information.
