Job Description: The Senior Financial Accountant- Tax Specialist, Europe is responsible for accurate and timely monthly financial accounts in both the UK and Netherlands. The incumbent holds responsibility for local tax and reporting compliance for the UK and Netherlands companies. The role will be very hands-on, getting involved in the detail.
Job Responsibilities:
- Management Accounting & Reporting
- Lead the preparation and delivery of comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial accounts
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Year-end accounts and audit
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Cashflow reporting
- Lead on finance initiatives to improve consistency and efficiency of financial reporting
- Ad-hoc projects and duties
- Tax Compliance & Strategy
- Manage and oversee periodic VAT returns, PAYE liabilities, and review corporate tax computations
- Advise on tax implications and tax exposure for business decisions, mergers, acquisitions, or new project expansions
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external tax advisors, statutory auditors, and tax authorities
- Take the lead on transfer pricing: applying global policies, producing local calculations and documentation
Who You Are:
- Qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience
- Proven experience in a financial accounting role with demonstrated tax reporting or compliance duties
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
- Deep working knowledge of local taxation laws (e.g., UK Corporation Tax, VAT), transfer pricing, and statutory reporting standards
- Business level of fluency in English language is mandatory
- Advanced Excel skills are required
- NetSuite experience will be advantageous
- Must be highly organized and able to be flexible at month end, yearend, budget, month end close timing
- Pro-active with tasks and hands on
- Self-motivated and able to work on his/her own, as well as with an International team
- Good interpersonal skills are essential
- Resilient and able to manage and embrace ‘change’ in a constructive manner
