Photo Editor / Content Coordinator

3 Month contract – Inside IR35

£237.50 per day

3 days per week on-site in Battersea, London

Overview

We\’re looking for a talented and experienced Photo Editor to join a global media design team responsible for shaping editorial experiences across entertainment, content, and app platforms. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a team that delivers high-impact visual storytelling to millions of users worldwide. You\’ll work across projects that span TV apps, music, editorial stories, and visual narratives, with a focus on compelling, culturally relevant content.

This is a freelance contract role based in London, working hybrid from our Battersea office three days per week (Tues-Thurs). The ideal candidate will bring exceptional photo research skills, strong art direction instincts, and fluency in both creative collaboration and production workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead photo research, curation, and licensing across multiple media platforms, covering EMEA and APAC markets.
  • Source, evaluate, and secure photography across genres: celebrity portraiture, still life, conceptual, fine art, archival, and more.
  • Manage rights, budgets, contracts, and licensing with external agencies, syndication partners, and photographers.
  • Support the team with retouching direction and briefing, ensuring visual consistency and excellence.
  • Maintain precise tracking of budgets, licenses, and archives across multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Identify and nurture relationships with new photographers, agencies, and image sources to expand the collaborator pool.
  • Collaborate across distributed global teams, supporting editorial and design teams in Europe and Asia.
  • Use creative tools and mock-up software to test imagery and layouts on devices and editorial platforms.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years\’ experience in photo editing, content production, or visual research in advertising, editorial, publishing, or media/entertainment industries (flexibility on years for standout candidates).
  • Deep understanding of visual storytelling and editorial narrative, with an eye for compelling imagery.
  • Extensive knowledge of photographers and photography sources (stock, archival, boutique agencies, etc.).
  • Expert in image rights, legal clearance, and contract negotiation for licensed content.
  • Excellent project management, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Adobe Creative Cloud, Keynote, Excel/Numbers, and digital asset tools.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Highly collaborative, adaptable, and resourceful – able to work independently and across time zones.
  • A great cultural and commercial sense, with awareness of global media trends.

Desirable

  • Portfolio showcasing photo research and editorial curation.
  • Bachelor\’s degree in Photography, Visual Arts, Design, or related field preferred.
  • Additional languages (e.g., French, German, Hindi) are a plus.
  • Background in advertising or creative production environments is highly valued.
  • Comfortable with new tools, platforms, and testing workflows on mobile devices.
