Overview

We\’re looking for 2 experienced contract Design System Designers to join a central design team within a leading UK payments provider. These roles will take sole responsibility for specific components and their documentation, with accessibility as a core requirement throughout the work.

You Are:

An experienced product designer who thinks in systems, strives for accessibility, and brings strong collaboration skills. You have worked in centralised design roles with mature systems, building scalable components and using semantic tokens across platforms.

You have strong UX/UI skills but specialise in systems thinking and accessibility.

What You\’ll Bring:

Design Systems Experience

• 4+ years in component design, with experience beyond Figma

• Proven work in tokenised design systems, including semantic tokens

Design System Component Creation

• Ability to translate UX/UI designs into scalable, accessible components

• Can create components from mock-ups or from scratch for Android, iOS, and Web

Collaboration with Engineering

• Comfortable collaborating with developers to ensure components are usable and robust

• Understanding of shared responsibilities across design and engineering

Design System Workflow

• Familiarity with governance processes around component and token creation

• Confident communicating with engineers and designers alike

Native/Responsive Design

Experience designing adaptable components for iOS, Android, and Web

Awareness of Code Frameworks

• Understanding of React and native mobile development constraints

• Working knowledge of semantic HTML and CSS

Experience Using Design Tokens

• Worked with structured, tokenised design systems

• Comfortable navigating closed-loop systems such as Supernova

What You\’ll Do

• Take ownership of a subset of design system components and their full documentation
• Work with a Staff Product Designer leading the design system and accessibility initiatives
• Conduct design reviews and validate implementation through demo apps
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and feedback
• Drive adoption of new and existing components
• Foster a culture of feedback and continuous improvement within the design system

Nice to Have

• 5+ years of product design experience in Fintech or Payments industries
