Seeking an experienced Music Content Operations Lead / Music Distribution Specialist who has experience with African Music Artists and African Music Distribution globally. Working for this international record label / Music Label / Artist Services / Music Distribution company based in London, you will help define and reliably execute distribution, rights management and artist support and provide tools, technical expertise around distribution workflows that helps distribute and promote their music to all of the major Digital Platforms.
You will need to roll your sleeves up to get things done but also have a strategic, long term view to systematize and streamline everything we do. This role is a unique opportunity to help efforts in an ever-evolving, critical area. As a player-coach you will work closely with artists, technical, marketing and business/legal teams in the day-to-day; to plan out releases and ensure they are set up, and go live seamlessly.
The right candidate will have the right combination of entrepreneurial hustle, experience working with African music content and a focus on detail to make things run smoothly.
Key experience and Qualifications- 5-7 years music operational experience for a reputable music label, record label or distributor, responsible for release management (including African Music distribution experience)
- Demonstrable expertise and experience with African music and the modern genres, along with familiarity with Hip-Hop, Pop, and Soul/R+B.
- Proven project management and critical thinking skills, to plan and drive tasks across teams, prioritise, see around corners, meet deadlines and get quality results whilst balancing multiple projects within tight timeframes.
- Excellent technical experience and savvy with digital music distribution and tools like Fuga, including the deep knowledge of the metadata, tools, systems and workflows required to support it.
- Strong collaboration skills, with a team approach towards achieving goals, through meeting notes, documentation, process innovation and project status tracking.
- Deep knowledge of Apple, Spotify, Tik Tok, Meta and Youtube products and metadata specs, and CMS’s. Youtube Certification is a strong plus.
- Experience providing requirements and quality assurance, working with product teams and engineering.
- Proven experience working on multiple complex, international, large-scale, time-critical projects.
- Excellent organisation, leadership, communication, and written skills.
- Above average presentation skills, ability to deliver impactful presentations at all levels of the organization.
- Works well under pressure, with an ability to manage expectations and push back on stakeholders.
- Experience managing support queries in a timely fashion.
- An ability to see the big picture as well as having a consistent strong attention to details.
- Flexible, responsive and versatile in nature, able to take on challenges while maintaining a calm demeanour.
- Exhibit confidence in calling out issues and presenting to senior management on project status and schedules.
- Comfortable with data and driving results through KPI’s.
- Experience analysing data and skilled with Excel, Numbers, Tableau and/or similar analytical applications.
You will:
- Collaborate with others to onboard new artists and ensure release campaigns go live perfectly.
- Champion critical timelines, processes and documentation to ensure low risk and high success.
- Inform music and marketing teams regarding release plans, lead-times and due dates.
- Approve, deliver, and ensure flawless go-live for content metadata and deliverables, across DSPs and licensors.
- Plan, drive, document and manage multi-faceted operations and metadata projects.
- Manage operational relationships with distribution partners.
- Provide Artist Support that puts artists needs first whilst adhering to critical requirements.
- Manage artist rights and UGC claims on platforms like Youtube, Tik Tok and Meta.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders (legal, tax, policy, support etc) to prepare new features for launch.
- Strategize with the wider Product & Business team to optimise the best platform for Artists.
- Oversee testing and bug reviews of new features on the Platoon platform.
Strive continuous improvement, and boundary-pushing initiatives.
