Job Description
BW Integrated Systems (BWIS) is part of a +$3 m global organisation and an industry leader in the design and manufacture of end‑of‑line packaging equipment, robotic automation solutions, and the execution of integrated packaging systems. A primary focus of the company is achieving people and performance in harmony. The position of Mechanical Engineer offers real variety in terms of the products and projects that will be the focus of the role, alongside growth and development opportunities. It’s a priority that the role is enjoyable, challenging and fulfilling. Joining our established team in Doncaster, the Mechanical Engineer will assist with the release and maintenance of our current product offering, integration of new products to the Doncaster portfolio and provide bespoke innovative solutions to meet the packaging needs of our customers.
Responsibilities include:
- Modelling and detailing of machined, fabricated, sheet metal parts and assemblies
- The specification of drive and pneumatic systems
- Producing design calculations, P&ID’s and other supporting documentation
- Update facility layout drawings to an as‑supplied state and create new if required
- Ensuring that all engineering produced complies with the relevant Directives and Harmonised standards and that design risk assessments are completed
- Uploading detailed BOM’s to our ERP system and releasing for manufacture
- The creation of customer documentation that accurately reflects the equipment supplied
Occasional UK/International travel to our customer and other Barry Wehmiller locations may be required to meet business needs. The flexibility to be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends when needed is also a requirement of the role.
The ideal candidate would have a broad engineering background and +5 years engineering / design experience within the packaging or special purpose machinery sectors. Having HNC/HND or higher qualification in mechanical engineering would be helpful, as would being proficient in the use of SolidWorks 2020 and the capability of using AutoCAD. Experience in robotic end‑of‑arm tool design would also be advantageous.
