Job Overview
PCFS are looking to increase its members who make up the PCFS fostering panel.
This is a self-employed role with a fee of £200 per panel. Potentially panel can meet virtually once a month but is more likely to be 4-6 times a year. There is an annual panel training day which is face to face for approximately 4 hours (with lunch provided).
The following procedures will cover and outline the relationship between PCFS, members of the Panel and the operation of the Panel itself. For ease of terminology, PCFS is referred to as \"the Fostering Service\".Members of the Fostering Panel must consider each case that is presented to it by the Fostering Service and make recommendations about:
- Whether an applicant is suitable to be a foster parent.
- The terms of approval of any foster parent.
- Whether the foster parent remains suitable to foster and whether the terms of approval remain appropriate following the first annual review, and at any other time when requested to do so by the Fostering Service.
- A decision not to approve applicant/s following representation from the applicant/s within the prescribed period.
The Panel will receive reports on any approved foster parent who decides to withdraw/resign outlining the reasons they have decided to leave and any discussions that have taken place.
The Panel will be at liberty to ask for reports on individual cases that may come to their attention. This will be in order to clarify points and make further recommendations.
The Panel will be consulted with regard to any major changes in policy, procedure or practice that affect PCFS. They will also be encouraged, via the Chair of the Panel to make recommendations.
PCFS is conscious that all members of the Panel are professionals in their own right and that they provide an essential service for PCFS. To this end PCFS will ensure that the views of the Panel will always be respected and considered before any decision is made.
NMS 14.8 requires that \'the number, skills, knowledge and experience of persons on the central list are sufficient to enable the fostering service to constitute panels that are equipped to make competent recommendations to the fostering service provider, taking into
