We have an exciting new opportunity at PCE for a Construction Quality Checker to work as part of our Construction team in Manchester.
The Construction Quality Checker will be responsible for inspecting and measuring finished precast concrete structural element products in situ, ensuring compliance with specifications, tolerances, and finish standards.
The role is critical to PCE's Right First-Time quality culture, supporting efficient handovers and minimising rework and defects.
The Construction Quality Checker will work alongside the Building Handover Manager and General Foreman, providing field-level QA checks, digital records, and feedback into PCE's Novade system.

Responsibilities
- Inspection & Measurement
- Inspect all installed precast elements for geometry, tolerance, alignment, and finish.
- Use digital and manual measuring tools (levels, gauges, tape) to record compliance.
- Identify, record, and elevate non-conformances or defects via Novade software.
- Verify repairs or corrective actions are completed before handover.
- Quality Assurance & Reporting
- Complete Novade checklists and upload photographic evidence.
- Maintain defect logs and contribute to Unit QA Registers.
- Support the Handover Manager in producing QA packs and closure records.
- Participate in daily briefings, QA toolbox talks, and inspection planning.
- Liaise with Handover Manager, General Foreman, and site operatives to sequence inspections.
- Attend interface and handover meetings, reporting quality findings.
- Provide clear feedback to operatives to ensure corrective actions are understood.
- Support the closure of NCRs and snagging items.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities
- Comply with PCE Ltd Health & Safety Policy, Method Statements, and RAMS.
- Wear appropriate 7-point PPE.
- Report unsafe conditions, poor standards, or hazards via Novade/Event Log.
- Key Interfaces
- Handover Manager (Stream Lead): Direct reporting and daily coordination.
- General Foreman: Inspection scheduling and defect resolution.
- PCE Operatives & Subcontractors: Interface for inspections and snag rectification.
- Head of Quality / Project Manager: QA performance reporting as required.
Skills & Behaviours
- CSCS card.
- Experience in construction quality control or inspection roles.
- Competence in using measuring tools and digital QA systems.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify defects.
- Strong communication skills to report and elevate findings.
- Experience with precast/insitu concrete or structural works.
- Previous site-based QA/QC/inspection roles.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 QA systems.
