Solicitor – Care – Shrewsbury or Telford
PCB Solicitors are seeking an experienced Care Solicitor to join our reputable Care Department to be based at either our Shrewsbury or Telford office, with hybrid working available.
This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience of care proceedings and is looking for an exciting new opportunity to join a reputable firm in Shropshire, working alongside a supportive team based across Telford and Shrewsbury. The ideal candidate will also hold either Children Law Accreditation or Family Law Accreditation.

Job Responsibilities:
- Manging Care matters from instruction through to resolution,
- Conducting in depth legal research to stay updated on relevant changes in UK and Welsh law,
- Taking instructions from clients and always maintaining a high level of client care and confidentiality,
- Engaging in business development and marketing initiatives to support the growth of the department,
- Completing accurate time recording on matters through the case management system,
- Liaising with clients and contacts including courts, local authorities and barrister chambers, both on email and telephone with professionalism,
- Confidently draft and prepare various types of legal documentation,
- Attend court and other external appointments where required for the progression of the matter,
- Have a commercial and pragmatic approach to legal practice and family law standards,
- Support with training junior colleagues in the department.
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple tasks at any one time,
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail,
- Confident communication skills and a client‑focused approach,
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team,
- To retain high levels of confidential information with discretion,
- Knowledge of legal and digital case management systems is advantageous,
- Family Law or Children Law accreditation from the Law Society is required.
Experience:
- Experience working within care proceedings is essential,
- Have at least 5 years PQE within children law is essential.
Job types:
- Full Time, Permanent.
Place of work:
- Telford or Shrewsbury office with hybrid working.
Hours of work:
- Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week.
- To be discussed upon application and will depend on candidates experience and qualifications.
