PCB Solicitors are seeking a highly organised and proactive Crown Court Clerk to join our reputable Criminal Department at our Shrewsbury office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background working in legal support roles, in particular Criminal law, who is ready for greater responsibility and career progression within a supportive and reputable firm. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting and managing Crown Court cases for the department, acting as a liaison between client and third parties, whilst delivering outstanding client care. Job Responsibilities

  • Managing Crown Court cases from committal all the way through to conclusion
  • Drafting and preparing various types of legal documentation including indictments, case summaries, applications and briefs to counsel
  • Liaising with clients and contacts such as CPS and Barrister Chambers, both on email and telephone with professionalism and empathy, acting as a primary point of contact
  • Completing accurate time recording on client matters
  • Accurate diary management for hearings, trials, conferences and client meetings
  • Preparing bills for submission to clients and Legal Aid Agency (LAA)
  • Conducting in depth legal research to stay updated on relevant changes in Criminal law
  • Taking instructions from clients and always maintaining a high level of client care and confidentiality

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple tasks at any one time
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Confident communication skills and a client‑focused approach
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • Knowledge of legal and digital case management systems

Experience

Experience working in similar job roles is not required as full training will be given, but experience in a legal environment would be preferable.

£25,500.00 to £28,000.00 FTE, depending on qualifications and experience
