Role Overview
As a Game Scout, you will be at the forefront of identifying and evaluating new game opportunities for Maximum Entertainment to publish. You'll be responsible for sourcing promising titles, building relationships with developers, and guiding selected projects through our internal greenlight process. Your work will directly impact the future of our publishing pipeline and help shape our portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Game Discovery & Evaluation
- Proactively scout for new game titles across platforms, genres, and regions.
- Attend industry events (virtually or in-person) and monitor online platforms to identify emerging talent and trends.
- Conduct initial assessments of game quality, market potential, and developer fit, documenting your assessments in a way that brings the reader up to speed with the game.
- Greenlight Process Management
- Prepare and present game pitches to the internal greenlight committee.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departmental heads (Production, Marketing and Sales) to gather input and support next steps.
- Track and manage the progress of greenlit titles through onboarding and publishing milestones.
- Maintain a robust pipeline of potential future products.
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with developers and studios.
- Keep detailed records of scouted titles, including status, feedback, and next steps.
- Market Intelligence
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and player preferences.
- Provide insights and recommendations to help shape publishing strategy.
- Remain objective, data-driven, and unbiased toward the games you assess.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience in game scouting, business development, or publishing within the video game industry.
- Strong understanding of game design, market trends, and player communities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to assess game potential both creatively and commercially, and to convince key stakeholders with data-backed recommendations.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
- A collaborative nature, ensuring that the departmental heads are always up to speed on the progress of the latest games being assessed.
