Key Responsibilities
- Product Design & Development
- Lead the full lifecycle design of cleanroom environment products, including stainless steel precision fabricated parts, assemblies, process equipment, high quality products.
- Produce detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and specifications using Inventor, or equivalent CAD systems.
- Apply advanced knowledge of stainless-steel sheet metal processes, welding methods and surface finishes.
- Ensure designs are cost-effective, manufacturable, and optimised for fabrication, assembly, and future maintenance.
- Technical Leadership
- Serve as a technical authority for stainless steel design, advising on materials, tolerancing, jointing methods, structural performance, and corrosion/cleanability considerations.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide design reviews, guidance, and best-practice training.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, templates, and engineering processes.
- Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support
- Work closely with manufacturing, fabrication and supply chain to ensure design intent is achievable and efficient.
- Liaise with customers, project managers, and sales engineers to translate requirements into robust engineering solutions.
- Attend factory acceptance tests, site meetings, and installation reviews where necessary.
- Project Ownership
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and to quality standards.
- Support prototype builds, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis of product issues.
Qualifications and Experience
- Essential
- 7+ years of mechanical design experience, with at least 3–5 years focused on stainless steel product development.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Expert CAD skills (Inventor strongly preferred).
- Strong understanding of stainless steel fabrication, sheet metal design, GD&T, and material properties.
- Demonstrated capability in engineering calculations and design validation.
- Experience creating detailed drawings and documentation suitable for manufacturing.
- Desirable
- Experience within pharmaceutical, cleanroom, biotech, food processing, or high-purity manufacturing environments.
- Project management exposure or formal training (Prince2, PMP, Agile).
