PBS Distribution (PBSd) is a leading distributor of public media content around the world, entertaining audiences across platforms and formats. The company provides premium content through multiple digital channels and video services. PBS Distribution operates seven subscription streaming channels — PBS Masterpiece (US and CA), PBS KIDS, PBS Living, PBS Documentaries (US and CA) and PBS America (U.K.) as well as numerous Free Advertising-Supported Streaming TV (FAST) Channels in the U.S. and U.K.
POSITION SUMMARY: This Intern role provides a broad experience of TV channel management. The role supports the programming and marketing efforts of PBSd's International Channels team in London. This team runs the PBS America broadcast channel in the UK and globally on YouTube as well as a range of FAST channels on international platforms, such as LG and Samsung. The role is hands on and is very much learning by doing. This Intern will gain experience in programme analytics, viewer enquiries, and programme acquisition. This person coordinates marketing assets and prepares email and social media marketing as well.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use analytics to create regular reporting of programme performance for broadcast and FAST channels.
- Screen programmes for potential acquisition.
- Assist Head of Programming to handle deliverables for new programmes.
- Screen viewer enquiries and answer, where possible.
- Assist with creation and scheduling of press and viewer emails and social marketing.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree (recent graduates preferred)
- Interest in media, TV, and documentary preferred
- Familiarity with YouTube and Facebook a plus
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Good attention-to-detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to make sense of data and present findings
- Ability to use and learn various online platforms and tools, such as photoshop and photo editing software a plus
- Ability to build relationships with colleagues and external partners
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
