We are growing rapidly and constantly launching new innovations. To support this momentum, we need a Technical Writer to bring structure to our technical landscape and build a world-class documentation portal. This isn’t just about writing manuals. You will be the architect of our knowledge and how we share that clearly with our customers and partners, diving deep into our ecosystem. Everything from detailed API guides to release notes, best practice recommendations, diagrams and flows, training manuals, user guides and more. We are looking for a truly technical writer who enjoys partnering with developers to master our under the hood mechanics. You will be the translator who tests our tech firsthand and turns complex data into clear, engaging content that empowers our customers.
Responsibilities
- Plan, build, and manage a centralised documentation portal, ensuring a seamless self-service experience for our customers.
- Define and document technical standards, style guides, and templates to ensure all customer-facing content is consistent, professional, and scalable.
- Audit and curate the existing backlog of technical information, transforming scattered data into a structured and easy-to-navigate knowledge base.
- Get hands-on with Payter hardware, software and service interfaces to verify features and ensure all guides are accurate and practical for real-world use.
- Act as the primary communication bridge between the Development and Product teams and our customers, translating technical complexity into clear, user-centric content.
- Work within the Product team to proactively identify documentation gaps and ensure all new hardware and software releases are supported with high quality release notes and supporting documentation.

Job requirements
- You have a proven track record in technical writing, with experience building or significantly restructuring documentation portals. If you’ve used Docusaurus and Markdown, that’s a huge plus (though we’re open to consider other options).
- You possess a strong ability to partner with developers.
- You have experience documenting complex software, and you are excited by the prospect of getting hands-on with physical hardware.
- You are a self-starter who can take a backlog and turn it into a structured, professional, and scalable knowledge base.
- You are a native-level English speaker (UK-based preferred) with a customer-first mindset, you write for the person using the product, not just for the archive.
- Experience turning complex concepts into visual representations to complement the written word is a key advantage.
- You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can and will shift.
