Due to continued growth, PayStream Accounting Services Limited have an opening for a Cyber Security Engineer to join our IT department at our Altrincham office. Hybrid working options available subject to training and probation. This is a hands-on role combining security operations and engineering, covering the day-to-day management of security technologies, investigation and response to security events, and the continuous improvement of PayStream's security posture across on-premises and cloud environments. The role suits a technically strong, detail-focused engineer who enjoys ownership, variety, and tackling real-world security challenges.
The Role:
- Implementation, management and maintenance of security configuration, toolsets and technologies
- Investigation of security events and incidents as required in tandem with the Managed SOC
- Resolution of service requests, incidents and problems
- Identification and remediation of vulnerabilities
- Identification of control gaps and ensuring adherence to best practice and standards
- Creation and maintenance of operational procedures, configuration and technical documentation
- Maintaining an awareness of new and emerging security technologies and threats
The Person:
- Demonstrable passion and enthusiasm for security, including the ability to keep current with the latest threats, technologies and trends
- Strong attention to detail
- Desire to learn
- A positive can-do attitude, being punctual and reliable
- The ability to work closely and collaboratively with the Security, IT and other teams and also independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical security issues to both non-security and non-technical stakeholders
- Acting with integrity and maintaining confidentiality
Requirements:
- Minimum grade C in Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Prior experience in an IT or security-related role
- Experience following change management and similar ITIL best practice
- Strong knowledge of security technologies (NGFW, WAF, EDR, SIEM etc.)
- Security certification, e.g. CompTIA Security+, GIAC GISF/GSEC
