Due to continued growth, PayStream Accounting Services Limited have an opening for a Cyber Security Engineer to join our IT department at our Altrincham office. Hybrid working options available subject to training and probation. This is a hands-on role combining security operations and engineering, covering the day-to-day management of security technologies, investigation and response to security events, and the continuous improvement of PayStream's security posture across on-premises and cloud environments. The role suits a technically strong, detail-focused engineer who enjoys ownership, variety, and tackling real-world security challenges.

The Role:

  • Implementation, management and maintenance of security configuration, toolsets and technologies
  • Investigation of security events and incidents as required in tandem with the Managed SOC
  • Resolution of service requests, incidents and problems
  • Identification and remediation of vulnerabilities
  • Identification of control gaps and ensuring adherence to best practice and standards
  • Creation and maintenance of operational procedures, configuration and technical documentation
  • Maintaining an awareness of new and emerging security technologies and threats

The Person:

  • Demonstrable passion and enthusiasm for security, including the ability to keep current with the latest threats, technologies and trends
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Desire to learn
  • A positive can-do attitude, being punctual and reliable
  • The ability to work closely and collaboratively with the Security, IT and other teams and also independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical security issues to both non-security and non-technical stakeholders
  • Acting with integrity and maintaining confidentiality

Requirements:

  • Minimum grade C in Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Prior experience in an IT or security-related role
  • Experience following change management and similar ITIL best practice
  • Strong knowledge of security technologies (NGFW, WAF, EDR, SIEM etc.)
  • Security certification, e.g. CompTIA Security+, GIAC GISF/GSEC
