Paysafe is looking for a Senior Regulatory Counsel (Special Projects) to support the corporate merger of two regulated entities in the UK.

How we work: We follow a hybrid working model, spending an average of three days per week at our office location. The office is located in Gresham Street next to St Paul’s cathedral with easy access and transport links via St Paul’s, Bank, Cannon Street, City Thameslink, Liverpool Street, Farringdon, Mansion House.
The impact you will have:
- Lead Regulatory Strategy: Define and drive the regulatory approach for the merger, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance obligations. Advise senior leadership on complex regulatory issues, including changes in control and licensing implications.
- Own Regulatory Submissions: Prepare and oversee applications for extension of permissions under e‑money authorisations. Draft and deliver high‑quality materials to competent authorities (FCA, Central Bank of Ireland) and manage all regulatory interactions.
- Regulatory Engagement & Negotiation: Act as the primary point of contact for regulators, ensuring clear, timely, and strategic communication. Coordinate and craft responses to regulatory queries under tight deadlines.
- Risk & Governance: Identify regulatory risks early, elevate appropriately, and recommend pragmatic mitigation strategies. Provide clear, concise reporting to senior management on progress, challenges, and risk exposure.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Work cross‑functionally with legal, compliance, product, and operations teams to deliver on project milestones. Manage external counsel effectively to ensure quality and cost efficiency.
What we’re looking for:
- Qualified lawyer able to demonstrate relevant experience.
- Experience with licensing applications for the FCA is essential.
- Financial services regulation experience gained in a financial institution, regulator or financial services department of a law firm with experience interacting with the regulatory authorities in particular regarding licensing matters.
- Payments/E‑Money industry experience preferred.
- Team player with high self‑motivation, positive ‘can‑do’ attitude and collaborative approach.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal issues to multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Must be highly organised and with a Project Management mindset.
