We’re looking for a Lead Platform Engineer who enjoys staying hands-on whilst shaping cloud platforms and helping engineers around them grow. You’ll set the standards, define the strategy, and lead the delivery of a secure, scalable, and developer-friendly ecosystem that empowers product teams to ship faster and more confidently via our internal developer portal.
This is a hybrid role with occasional onsite collaboration (no weekly commuting) — typically once every 2–3 months, but you are able to attend our offices as much as you like, — at either our Liverpool or Welwyn Garden City offices.
You’ll help shape and run our Azure based engineering platform, setting standards, designing solutions and leading by example:
- Designing and evolving Azure cloud architecture.
- Building and running Kubernetes / AKS platforms.
- Staying hands-on with platform engineering and automation.
- Setting best practices across reliability, security, performance, and cost.
- Improving developer experience through tooling, automation, and self-service.
- Mentoring and supporting engineers as the platform and team scale.
- Working closely with product and engineering leaders on platform strategy.
What we’re looking for:
- Solid experience with Kubernetes, ideally AKS.
- Background in platform, cloud, or infrastructure engineering.
- Experience in a lead or senior role, with a mentoring mindset.
- Comfortable balancing technical leadership with hands-on delivery.
- Confident influencing architecture and engineering standards.
It would be great if you have the following:
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm, Kustomize).
- Scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- DevSecOps or platform security experience.
