JOB SUMMARY

The Credit Controller is responsible for chasing outstanding invoices and allocating payments, playing a vital role within the Finance department. This role requires a proactive individual seeking to improve and maintain/achieve optimum debtor days, ensure efficiency and effectiveness of cash allocation, and continuously improve collection procedures.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Allocating payments in accordance with customer remittances and information supplied by the Settlement Team across all company entities
  • Chasing debt while building strong business relationships with clients
  • Generating and sending Dunning letters and fortnightly statements to clients
  • Liaising with team members and the Client Services team to resolve queries about outstanding invoices
  • Running weekly Aged Debt Reports and providing updates to management about high-risk accounts
  • Initiating legal processes, ensuring Proof of Debts are submitted, and working with the Legal team to collect outstanding debts
  • Maintaining and looking to improve current Credit Control policies and procedures
  • Assisting the Sales Ledger Team with absence and holiday cover as required
  • Handling ad hoc Credit Control queries as needed

Essential Attributes

  • Experience working within a Credit Control department
  • Excellent numeracy and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in IT packages such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Confident telephone manner
  • Well-organized with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work well in a team and act on own initiative when appropriate
  • Capable of working to strict guidelines and targets, and coping under pressure

Desirable Attributes

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central or other accounting systems
  • General accounts processing knowledge would be advantageous
